Organizations We’ve Supported
The Hesed Foundation supports nonprofit organizations working to strengthen communities, expand opportunity, and improve the lives of individuals and families. We are particularly committed to organizations serving people and communities that have historically been marginalized or underserved.
Our grants reflect a range of needs—from health care and food security to youth development, immigrant services, LGBTQIA+ support, and assistance for families experiencing economic hardship.
The organizations below are examples of recent Hesed Foundation grantees and illustrate the breadth of work we support.
Health, Reproductive Health & Well-Being
Planned Parenthood of Northern New England Hesed has provided ongoing support for access to sexual and reproductive health care throughout northern New England. Our grants have supported needs including new medical equipment, expansion of medication abortion services, and assistance for patients who face financial barriers to care.
The Joan G. Lovering Health Center — Greenland, New Hampshire
Hesed has supported the Lovering Health Center’s work providing accessible sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion care, to patients in New Hampshire and surrounding communities.
Greenwich House — New York City
Our longstanding support of Greenwich House has included its substance-use treatment and harm-reduction programs. Grants have helped provide fentanyl test strips and wound-care supplies for patients receiving methadone maintenance treatment, as well as nutritional support for patients with hepatitis C.
LGBTQIA+ Communities
Jewish Queer Youth (JQY) — New York City
Hesed supports JQY’s programming for LGBTQIA+ Jewish youth. JQY provides community, support, and resources for young people, including those from Orthodox, Hasidic, and other traditional Jewish backgrounds.
Immigrants, Refugees & Social Justice
Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights — New York City
Hesed has supported legal and advocacy services for immigrant communities in Northern Manhattan, helping individuals and families navigate complex systems and access resources.
Make the Road New York — New York City
Our support has helped advance Make the Road New York’s work with immigrant and working-class communities through advocacy, community services, education, and organizing.
Avodah — New York and National
Hesed has supported Avodah’s work engaging young adults in efforts to address poverty and advance social justice through Jewish values, service, leadership development, and community.
Children, Youth & Families
Kismet Rock Foundation — North Conway, New Hampshire
A multiyear Hesed grantee, Kismet Rock provides a progressive, four-year climbing and outdoor education program for young people who otherwise might not have access to these experiences. Its model combines outdoor challenge with mentorship, confidence-building, and long-term relationships.
CASA of New Hampshire — New Hampshire
Hesed has supported the recruitment, training, supervision, and retention of Court Appointed Special Advocates who speak on behalf of children experiencing abuse or neglect.
Housing Families — Eastern Massachusetts
Our support has helped Housing Families expand programming for children and families experiencing housing instability. Its youth and family programs provide academic assistance, counseling access, peer support, and help navigating local schools.
Community Partners — Strafford County, New Hampshire
Hesed has provided multiyear support for respite care for families caring for children and adults with developmental disabilities and chronic health needs.
Peter Westbrook Foundation — New York City
Hesed has supported the Olympians in Life program, which combines fencing instruction with academic support and mentorship for young people from underserved New York City communities.
Basic Needs, Dignity & Community
Dignity Matters — Massachusetts
Hesed has supported Dignity Matters in providing menstrual products and underwear to women and girls experiencing homelessness or poverty—essential needs that are often not adequately covered by traditional assistance programs.
Moms for Moms NYC — New York City
Our support has helped provide low-income single mothers with postpartum and newborn essentials that are not covered by public assistance programs.
Horizons for Homeless Children — Boston, Massachusetts
Hesed has supported nutritious meals and snacks for young children attending the organization’s early education program, helping address food insecurity alongside children’s educational and developmental needs.
Kobe Henro — Massachusetts
Hesed has provided support for a community pet food bank that helps individuals and families experiencing financial hardship continue to care for and remain with their pets.
The Nature Connection — Concord, Massachusetts
Our support has helped bring nature-based programming to older adults, including people living with dementia and receiving memory care.
